Course objectives
During the course, students get acquainted with practical use of Standard Czech norms with regard to the process of codification of morphological issues in relevant authoritative sources. The focus of the course is on doublets in morphology of all inflected parts of speech and on the ability to choose a more appropriate form depending on the type of text and also on orientation in this particular topic as reflected by works providing codification of Standard Czech as well as by relevant internet sources (e.g. Internetová jazyková příručka Ústavu pro jazyk český AV ČR, v. v. i.), including skills relating to their use. Every lesson is focused on explanations and intensive practising (in the form of exercises) of specific problematic issues relating to paradigms of conjunction and declension of a selected group of words.
Learning outcomes
Having participated in the course, students will be able: - to get orientated in issues of standard language norm, following the process of codification of morphological issues in authoritative sources; - to identify and explain issues of morphological doublet forms in inflected parts of speech; - to analyze authentic language material form the Czech National Corpus, form printed and electronic periodicals etc.; - to decide, which morphological doublet form in appropriate in a given type of texts.
