Course objectives
The course follows on from the course Russian History and expands the received knowledge of students about the Russian past. Although Russia has always been a part of Europe, it has its own indisputable specifics. We are talking about the powerful unit with estate, national and space-time differences. In the lectures we lay stress on understanding of the politic, economic, social and national stratification of Russian State and Russian society. So, students will find out what makes Russian history specific and how these specifics are reflected in the current form of the Russian state, its political system and the society. With the help of coursework students will be able to apply knowledge received during lectures and by reading secondary literature.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able:
- to understand the development of the Russian state and its political system;
- to characterize particular classes of Russian society and their historical transformation;
