Abstract
The aim of the course is to achieve the B1+ level (based on the Common giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.European Framework of Reference) of English language competence.
Students can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party; can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of academic/professional subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue The course is focused on academic skills and professional language.
During the course all language skills will be practised (listening, reading, speaking, writing). Other material is used - authentic texts.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students can listen to the radio and watch documentary films, understand lextures and the main ideas of relatively complex text on both concrete and academic/professional topics, including discussions in their field of specialisation.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Group and project work, role-playing games, presentations, providing feedback, short written assignments, practicing reading techniques.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements

Requirements for credit: 1) attendance at seminars (min. 80%), 2) active participation in seminars, 3) 100% completion of ongoing assignments, including homework, 4) mandatory portfolio assignments, including project.

Credit: presentation on a given topic (oral) + written assignment.
