The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Physics is general and reliable basis of all natural sciences. To understand them it is necessary to have at least general view how physics and physicists look into the nature.
This course is an elementary introduction into the world of physics and physical thinking. This course is a follow-up of a secondary school course of physics and it aims to review and improve students' knowledge of physics and put the base for further physical studies. Students need only basic calculus on the introductory level.
At the end of the course students will be able
- to understand fundamental physical terms and principles
- understand links among various fields of physics
- to solve physical problems using basic mathematics apparatus
Learning outcomes
Absolving the course a student obtains following abilities and skills: • basic knowledge of the system of physics • the role of mathematics in a physical discipline • to understand fundamental physical terms and laws • ability to obtain derived assertions from principles of classical mechanics • ability to solve problems and examples of general physics
