In the peak point of backswing gymnast is in a piked position, than he is downswinging. Before reaching vertical position the body arching starts. After passing under the bar, feet overtake other body parts with slight bending in hips and shoulders. At the highest point of the forward swing, the gymnast eyes are on toes, than whole body swings backward with inverse positions. Before completing the swing backward the gymnast slightly bends in his hips and at the highest point he makes a correction of the grip.
From a mechanical point of view, we can consider the movement as a forced oscillations, where during each swing forward, mechanical energy is regularly supplied to the body by the action of muscular force during an upward swing of the lower limbs. In the advanced execution of the element, this active swing is also performed during the swing backward, which allows the gymnast to gain the necessary energy to complete the swing to a handstand. In general, potential energy is converted to kinetic energy and back during the swinging.
- Body extension in the peak point of the backswing.
- Early upward swing of the lower limbs.
- Arched position at the end of front swing.
-
Physical preparation 1
Strengthen the body by lying hollow body hold.
-
Physical preparation 2
Lying on back we perform turns to the abdomen and back to strengthen the whole body.
-
Physical preparation 3
In the front support change between flexion and extension.
-
Physical preparation 4
For the proper work of the trunk during the swing, it is necessary to strengthen the abdominal muscles.
-
Physical preparation 5
A more challenging variation of the strengthening exercises is the front support hold, moving the arms and legs apart.
The supporter holds the gymnast by the wrist, with the other hand he helps the correct timing of the movement by pushing alternately under the abdomen and under the back.
