Předpoklady
Očekává se, že studenti mají dobrý přehled o hláskovém systému AJ a sami jsou dobrými modely výslovnosti.
Omezení zápisu do předmětu
Předmět je určen pouze studentům mateřských oborů.

Cíle předmětu
Kurz se zabývá anglickým fonologickým systém v suprasegmentální rovině, tzn. středem zájmu jsou jednotlivé aspekty souvislé řeči - vázání, přízvuk, rytmus a intonace.
Osnova
  • Face-to-face sessions:
  • 1. Weak forms
  • 2. Word stress
  • 3. Word stress in compounds; contrastive stress
  • 4. Linking and sound changes in connected speech
  • 5. Sentence stress
  • 6. Intonation
  • These are accompanied by students' own "effort hours" spent on practising the given phenomena by means of handouts, recordings, homework assignments, and by keeping their own Progress Sheets.

Metody hodnocení
Requirements: The course finishes with an exam consisting of a written and oral parts.
The students are expected to participate actively in the lessons, do the required home assignments, keep their Progress Sheets on a weekly basis and provide a mid-term recording of a given text.
If this recording does not meet the required standard and is graded "Unsatisfactory", the student will have to submit another one at the end of term.
When the recording (recordings) are graded "Satisfactory" or "In need of improvement", the student can proceed to the exam.
The exam will consist of a written part in the form of a test, and an oral part in the form of a shared interview required for Practical Language, which will be assessed also from the point of view of pronunciation.
