- Cíle předmětu
- The course is intended primarily for first-year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy. It serves to explain and practice basic calculations necessary for successful completion of chemical disciplines during further studies.
The teaching takes place in the form of seminars, and in particular calculations of the composition of solutions and mixtures in general (trituration) and their expression using various units will be practiced. Then there is stoichiometry, including the composition of compounds and calculations from chemical equations. It will also include balancing redox equations. We will also focus on calculations based on the solubility product and, of course, solutions of acids and bases - pH, dissociation constants, hydrolysis of salts and buffers.
The emphasis is on understanding the basic principles on which these calculations are based. - Výstupy z učení
- Student after the course will be able to:
- Calculate composition of solutions and mixtures (mass percents, ppm, molarity...);
- Calculate mass composition of compounds based on their stoichiometric formulas;
- Use the chemical equations for apropriate calculations;
- Calculate basic tasks with solubility product;
- Calculate pH of acids and bases incuding buffers solutions based on their characteristics (pKa, concentration, dissociation rate, etc) - Osnova
- - solution and mixtures composition - calculations of mass fraction, mass percents, ppm, molarity and relationships between them
- - stoichiometry - elemental analysis, calculations based on chemical equations
- - balancing of redox equations
- - The solubility product - basic calculations
- - pH, pKa, acidobasics equilibria, hydrolysis of salts, buffers

- Seminars are mandatory.
A scientific calculator is required for seminars and especially the final test; mobile phones are not allowed.
Requirements during the semester: Practice online tests in the IS will be gradually published during the semester. They will be available from publication until the end of the semester and the number of attempts is not limited. For each of them, it is necessary to obtain a score higher than zero by the official end of the semester at the latest. If this requirement is not met, the student will be classified with an "X" rating and will not be entitled to register to complete the course.
To obtain credit, in addition to meeting the above requirements, it is necessary to pass the final test and achieve at least 60% of the maximum score. In case of failure, students are entitled to two retake attempts in the form of an analogous test with the same success requirements. - Další komentáře
