- Course objectives
- Main objectives can be sumarized as follows:
to understand psychological aspects in the field of human relations;
to inform about main principles of personell management;
to understand specific manager's methods and its psychological aspects;
to learn about possibilities of psychological interventions in organisation. - Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
apply teoretical information from the scope of the work and oganisation psychology into factual organisation;
create strategy of human resources planning;
understand specific manager's methods (development management, leadership and motivation);
create specific project solving selected work related problems in organisation. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to Psychology of Work and Organization (basic psychological traditions and their influence on psychology of work, job description of an occupational psychologist, related fields to psychology of work, changes in the work processes, technologies and environment and their impact on the work of a psychologist).
- 2. Work motivation and job satisfaction (motivation and work motivation, sources of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, work satisfaction, needs x motivation, motivation theories - historical overview: instrumentality theory, humanistic theories, theories focused on content (Maslow, Herzberg, Alderfer, McClelland), focused on process (Vroom, Adams, Lathan and Locke, McGregor, newer concepts - e.g. ABCD motivation, empowerment theory, individual motivational profile ...).
- 3. Market and advertising psychology (selected concepts from marketing - 4P, communication media mix, marketing communication tools; techniques from market psychology, history of advertising and promotion, creation of effective advertising, mythical motifs in advertising, brainwashing and manipulation, ethical aspects of advertising,).
- 4. Intercultural etiquette (Hofstede, Trompenaars, culture shock, reverse culture shock, prevention of culture shock, adaptation of an employee to a stay abroad, examples of specifics of business communication in selected countries).
- 5. Manager personality and leadership (types of managers e.g. theory Kaiser and Koffey, managerial roles according to Mintzberg, LBA; managing difficult situations and problem employees, managerial decision-making: classical decision-making theories, theory of subjective utility expectations, theory of bounded rationality, method of exclusion).
- 6. Team psychology (roles in a group, Tuckman's model, roles according to Belbin, Furman - double star model, teambuilding, teambuilding techniques).
- 7. Sustainability from the point of view of environmental psychology and ecopsychology (environmental disposition of personality, real CSR and marketing CSR, sources of motivation for CSR and environmental protection, crises and disasters, challenges for a corporate psychologist).
- 8. Career development and education of employees (forms of career, successful career, psychological contract, choice and change of career, development centres, career coaching).
- 9. Corporate culture (elements, sources of formation of organizational culture, typology of corporate culture, diagnostics of corporate culture, formation and change of corporate culture).
- 10. Human resource management (selection and acquisition of employees, adaptation workers, performance management, employee remuneration, procedures and practices in employing people, termination of employment, psychology of unemployment).
- 11. Management methods and techniques (structure of managerial functions, types of managerial techniques, selected methods and techniques - prisoner's dilemma, SWOT analysis, AIDDA, INTRO, GRID - managerial grid, 360° evaluation, organizational techniques).
- 12. Self-management (methods of self-knowledge, self-confidence, stress management and relaxation, development of fantasy and imagination, work organization and time management, procrastination).

- Completion of a course:
Written Examination (6 open questions). The examination aimed at testing the student’s insight into the main theories and concepts of the discipline and at checking the student’s ability to connect relevant facts into logical relations and its practical application;
To pass the exam, students need to get at least 60% of the total points. Final exam grades: A - 93% - 100% B - 85% - 94% C - 77% - 86% D - 69% - 76% E - 60% - 68% F - 59% and below - Language of instruction
