Vnímání hraní videoher v kontextu volného času: konstruktivistická analýza
The perception of video game playing in the context of leisure time: A constructivist analysis
Anotace
Abstract
This thesis focuses on the perception of playing video games in the context of leisure and aims to explore the subjective meanings individuals attribute to it in comparison with other common activities. Zadání práce
Práce vychází z konstruktivistického přístupu a teorie osobních konstruktů George A. Kellyho.

This thesis focuses on the perception of video game playing in the context of leisure time and aims to explore the subjective meanings individuals attribute to it in comparison with other common activities. The objective is to understand the motivations behind playing video games, the perceived benefits and risks associated with this activity, and how these aspects are evaluated in relation to alternative forms of leisure. Particular attention is paid to how individuals assess the meaningfulness of different activities and how they are integrated into everyday life.
The study is grounded in a constructivist approach and George A. Kelly’s Personal Construct Theory. The main method used is the repertory grid technique (REP test), which enables the identification of dimensions through which participants compare various leisure activities. These activities are generated by the participants themselves and subsequently evaluated using individually constructed bipolar constructs. The method is complemented by semi-structured interviews, providing additional context and deeper interpretation of the elicited meanings.
The thesis aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of how video games are perceived within the broader spectrum of leisure activities and offer insight into how individuals define meaningful leisure.
