Prerequisites
The student should have a basic idea of ​​the functioning of the legal order, the differences between private and public law, sources of law and their interpretation dn aplication, as well as of basic concepts, values and principles of private law. MP113Zk Teorie práva I

Abstract
The aim of the course is: to define basic conception and values, principles and sources of Czech Civil law; to undestand the place of Civil law in the system of Private law and the whole legal order; to orientate students in the general part  of the Czech Civil Code (first 14 sections), to characterize persons and objects in a legal sense; to understand the concept of the juridical facts  (legal acts and time limits etc.), to motivate students to express their own opinions on the case law and  the tendencies of development of the legal regulation of Civil law in the  Czech Republic, especially in the lights of the drafts and designed law etc.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the fundamental concepts, values, principles and general framework of the private law and civil law as well as their importance within legal systems; acquire basic professional knowledge, interpretaion and aplication skills and capabilities in the General part of Civil law

The conception and the function of the Private Law and Civil Law; The position of the Private Law in the general system of Law; System of Civil Law; Persons in a legal sense; Natural persons, statutory questions of family law; Protection of personal rights; Legal persons - general characteristics; System of legal persons of civil law (associations, foundations, institutions) Representation; The thing in the legal sense; Juridical facts (generally) nad  Legal acts; Time (periods etc.); legal presumptions and legal fictions, etc.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
The course has the form of lectures. They are followed by seminaries  - small groups. The lectures have a cognitive function. Seminaries are reserved for practicing of the ability to apply the legal regulation on the concrete cases. 

E-learning added as well as the possibility of tutorial and team collaboration. 

Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Compulsory lessons based on continuous written home preparation and the presention adn defending of results and solutions. 

Two tests.

Check of the the fulfillment of all obligations within the seminar teaching.
Exam (written test and oral part).
