Course objectives
The course "Labour Law I", designed for students of the Master's form of study in Law and Legal Science, aims to illuminate the basic institutes of labour law in relation to the material learned in the teaching of civil law. In the course, students should first of all learn to recognize labour law relations, be able to distinguish them from other legal relations and understand their specifics (with a focus on the individual elements of legal relations), as well as understand the basic principles of labour law, orient themselves in the elements of employee protection, in the regulation of specific sources of labour law and understand the fundamental aspects of the employment relationship. In the course, students should also acquire basic skills applicable in labour law practice, such as the ability to distinguish between dependent and independent forms of work, apply the legal regulation of labour negotiations, the limits of contractual freedom in labour law, etc.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to explain the relationship between civil law and labour law, name the basic principles of labour law and their influence on the application of labour law norms, distinguish dependent work from other forms of gainful employment. The student will be familiar with the specifics of the legal regulation of the subjects of labour relations, labour law actions, service of process and the consequences of legal defects. Emphasis will be placed on the student's orientation in collective labour relations.
