Abstract
The objective of the practical exercises and seminars from pathological physiology is to provide students basic idea about pathological states and experimental work, show anaesthetic and basic surgical techniques. Students will also acquire practical skills necessary for their subsequent(future) study and work.
Key topics
  • 1. Introduction, labour safety, principles and ethics of experiments performed on animals. Basic surgical techniques, work with laboratory animals (preparation of an animal for the experiment and probatory laparotomy).
  • 2. Disorders of ventilation and gas exchange in the lungs – spirometric examination.
  • 3. Statistical evaluation of the experiments (fundamentals).
  • 4. Atherosclerosis (seminar), principle and demonstration of the ultrasound examination of periphery vessels.
  • 5. Hematologic diseases (seminar), hematologic findings in the selected blood diseases (practical training of a microscopic technique and evaluation of hematologic parameters).
  • 6.Experimentally induced acute radiation syndromes in lab. animals – hematologic consequences (Ist. part).
  • 7.Experimentally induced acute radiation syndromes in lab. animals – hematologic consequences (IInd. part).
  • 8.Essential hypertensis (seminar), ambulatory blood pressure and heart rate measurements, postural changes of BP and PF, effect of isometric and aerobic exercise.
  • 9.Secondary hypertensis (seminary). Experimentally induced renal ischemia (quantification of rennin in kidney).
  • 10.Arythmology (seminar), demonstration of selected types of rhythm disorders. Credits.

practical training
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Credit. Practical exercises are compulsory (absence can be excused only in case of sick leave). During the term, tutors can continuously test knowledge in written tests or students can be asked to elaborate special papers.Term tuition (blocks) is completed by credit, conditions for awarding credit are: i) participation in the practical exercises, ii) elaboration of protocols from experimental practical exercises, iii) further individually chosen tutor's criteria.

Je bezpodmínečně nutné nosit v průběhu praktické výuky laboratorní plášť a dbát na zásaby bezpečnosti práce. Student může ve zdůvodněných případech nahradit výuku v jiném pravidelném termínu, ale pouze po předchozí domluvě s vyučujícím.

Students have to be wearing lab coats during the practicals and follow the safety rules when working experimentally. Student can - with tutor's approval - substitute the particular practical with another group in case he/she has a justifiable reason for it.
