Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic concepts of phonetics. With regard to the speech therapist´s activity, students will familiarize themselves with the process of articulation, vocal and consonant system, and other aspects of speech acoustics, including the possibilities of its analysis.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be oriented in the basic terminology of phonetics, classification and systematic vocals and consonants; will be familiar with the key concepts and processes of spoken acoustic speech and will be able to use this knowledge in practice.
Syllabus
  • Phonetics, definition of discipline, status of the system of sciences.
  • Specifics of spoken and written language.
  • Vocalism from articulative point of view, vocal systemics.
  • Consonantism from the articulative point of view, the systematicity of the consonants.
  • Transcription and its practical use.
  • Acoustic speech (acoustic and auditory view of language).
  • Prozical speech means from articulation and acoustics.
