Course objectives
The course objective is to make present and further develop the problematic nature of the studied subject as it was outlined in the previous term. Having met the course requirements, students can creatively apply the basic range of approaches, teaching forms and methods and thus enhance pupils´reading, interpretational and creative skills.
Syllabus
  • 1. Contemporary readers and textbooks, methodical handbooks. The conception of readers and handbooks, didactic components etc. The adaptation of textbooks for concrete educational strategies, making teachers own readers. 2. Didactic interpretation of artistic texts - interpretative work with poetry and prosaic genres in literary lessons (the applications of main methods). 3. Specialities of the work with dramatic and informative texts. The work with information and the sources of information. 4. The subject and realization of creative aesthetical activities (in connection with concrete texts) - reproduction (recitation, dialogues, drama), creative activities (dramatic education, creative work with literary characters, composition, creative writing). 5. The work with illustrations in literary education, important illustrators. 6. Periodicals for children and the work with them in literary education. The basis is the work with concrete literary texts, the development of students skills to apply basic and alternative educational methods, solving partial educational situations.

Teaching methods
T\pe of course: seminar. Methods: discussion about the professional course issues, practical activities - active students´ work with literary texts, solving model situations.
Assessment methods
The type of teaching: seminar. The type of conclusion: oral examination. Examination requirements: 1. Model lesson plan for a combined type of a literary education class (for the 4th or 5th class); Detailed requirements related to the structure of the lesson plan and examination topics are asssigned at the beginning of the term. 2. Students prove their theoretical knowledge of didactics of literary education as presented in the assigned topics. The examination has two parts: a written lesson plan and the actual oral examination which tests students´ theoretical knowledge. Detailed requirements are available in each term in Study Materials of the course in the Information System MU, the folder Learning Materials.
