- Course objectives
- The main goal of the course is to provide information about work and employment of people with disabilities. The course introduces different points of view on the term work and the changes in the approaches in the integration of people with disabilities. It focuses on the counselling in the process of choosing the future profession and the place of vocational education, possibilities of the support on the transition from school to work and in the employment. Orientation on the needs, possibilities and potential (of person and the labour market) are essential. The students learn the situation of support and guidance of people with disabilities on the way to work in other countries too.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student:
• is able to perceive different approaches to the term work (in relation to people with disabilities);
• have a basic overview about Czech and foreign documents including the employment of people with disabilities;
• is oriented in the difference between pre-vocational and vocational counselling of pupils with special needs;
• knows the specific aspects of requirements of the labour market and possibilities of people with disabilities;
• is aware about the situation in the Czech Republic and basic awareness about the situation in other countries. - Syllabus
- 1. Work versus gainful employment – basic term, human rights, the meaning of work.
- 2. Work and employment, Czech and foreign documents, changes in the approaches.
- 3. The world of work in the educational programmes.
- 4. Pre-vocational counselling.
- 5. Vocational counselling and education, cooperation with employers.
- 6. Support on the way to work – profit versus non-profit, transition from school to work, supported employment.
- 7. Possibilities of work integration of people with disabilities – labour market, work conditions, barriers.
- 8. Support and guidance of people with disabilities on the way to work in the Czech Republic and abroad.
- 9. Social Corporate Responsibility (CRS).
