Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the ethical aspects of conducting research.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to
- identify ethically sensitive aspects of their research project;
- conduct data collection, analysis, storage, and presentation in compliance with the curren ethical requirements;
- draft a high-quality informed consent form;
- apply for the ethical approval.
Syllabus
  • - the importance of ethical conduct in research
  • - ethical and legal aspects of research with human participants (treatment of data in terms of privacy, rewards to participants, potential harm to participants, deception)
  • - informed consent and what to include in it
  • - researching vulnerable populations
  • - MU ethics committee, how to apply for ethical approval
  • - workshop: discussion and analysis of the students' dissertation projects in terms of research ethics
