Vyžadováno je předchozí absolvování alespoň jednoho z výše uvedených kurzů, případně souhlas vyučujícího. Znalost polštiny není bezpodmínečně nutná, (téměř) všechny texty budou dostupné i v českých překladech.

Course objectives

An overview of the history of Polish literature of the first half of 20th century. The course contains information about the period, the literary epochs, trends, schools and authors, with an analysis of genres and specific works and also leads toward a knowledge of written forms of expression within the given issues. Main aims of the course are:
- to understand development of the Polish literature of that period;
- to understand the most prominent representatives of the Polish literature of inter-war, World War II and post-war years;
- to understand Polish literature as an integrative part of the building the national consciousness;
- to become familiar with an essential amount of scientific literature and its methods;
- to work with the secondary literature creatively;
- to apply acquired knowledge and skills on the creation of own scientific texts.

Learning outcomes

Absolvent ot this course:
- will gain overview about the key authors and works in one of the most important period of development of Polish literature;
- will be able to put these knowledges into context of the world literature;
- will extend his ability to analyse and interpret literature works.

Teaching methods

Lectures are combined with seminars (analysis of texts, class disscusion), home reading.

Assessment methods

Completion: written exam (80 points), essay+presentation (20 points).
Pass/fail line: 60 points (A 100–85, B 84–80, C 79–75, D 74–70, E 69–60, F 59–0 pts).
Prerequisite for the exam: students have to gain a credit before an exam (the student's attendance is at least 70 %, compulsory home reading).
