Course objectives
The aim of the course is to extend the knowledge that students have acquired in the courses PSBA030 "Foundations of work psychology" and PSMA005 "Work and Organizational Psychology" with relevant information from other areas of occupational psychology (leadership, teamwork, work design...) and their subsequent capitalization in the development of a practically oriented project. The main emphasis is on linking all presented information with practice.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- to think about work psychology topics in context;
- characterize the specifics of the work of psychologists in different areas of occupational psychology;
- to apply psychological principles in practical situations;
- to create a specific project solving selected work related problems in real organisation.
Syllabus
  • 1. introduction to Applied Work Psychology - specifics of communication with corporate organizations;
  • 2. defining commission, preparing and implementing them, frequent "mistakes" ...;
  • 3. research in the field of work psychology (the most common topics, ways of realization, possible problems, ...);
  • 4. ethic in work psychology;
  • 5. team work;
  • 6. management of conflicts;
  • 7. manager's style of leading;
  • 8. psychological diagnostics in work psychology;
  • 9. work of a psychologist in specific areas - lecture by invited guest;
  • 10. application of gained knowledge in practice - solution of real work-psychological problem - group project;
  • 11. group projects - presentations;
  • 12. group projects - feedback and evaluation.
