Course objectives
The course aims to introduce phenomena and aspects of contemporary Italian spoken language in its different contexts.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to
identify and use lexical elements and phrasology of contemporary spoken Italian in formal and informal contexts;
identify and replicate hand gestures that accompany conversations;
use syntax and vocabulary appropriate to different contemporary speech contexts.

  • Topics: sectorial and slang languages, phraseology and convenctions in spoken Italian, politically correctness, signs, gestures.

Teaching methods
Seminar-type lectures with practical activities. Teaching materials provided by the lecturer as well as texts, videos, films and further bibliography. The course will run with a minimum of three students.
Assessment methods
Once enrolled in the course, active attendance is mandatory (min. 75%). Examination: written test.
