Abstract
A seminar dedicated to the preparation of a bachelor diploma thesis project. At the end of the course, the students will have finished a project in which they will continue to work in the follow-up diploma seminars in the case of completus or maior study program. For the students of the minor program, this elaborated project will be the final result, but the students will acquire the necessary skills for their possible future research.
Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students will be able to prepare a bachelor's thesis project, in particular:

  • formulate the basic topic, problems, and questions;
  • think through the structure of the thesis and propose its outline;
  • conduct appropriate research in searching for sources and methodological literature;
  • prepare a schedule and work plan for the research;
  • defend their version of the project in competition with others;

Key topics
The bachelor's project goes through several stages, the first of which is optional.

STAGE 1 (until March 1): 

  • Optional proposal of your own bachelor's thesis topic: if students have an idea for a possible project that they would like to implement as their bachelor's thesis, they can submit this proposal to the shared submission system, which will be open until March 1, 2026, as part of the Bachelor's Project course. 
  • The project must follow the parameters explained in the manual  "Information on the Bachelor's Project Proposal" , which is located in the study materials. It contains a prescribed number of characters for each area and assumes a form at the stage of development that will give an idea of the research carried out, the thoughtfulness of the topic, its originality and feasibility, and the gap it fills in current knowledge. 
  • If any of the potential supervisors are interested in one of the proposed projects and decide to take it on, they will offer it in its original or modified form as a topic within their package of topics, and the proposed project will thus become an officially listed topic (to which the proposer will be automatically assigned). 
  • However, supervisors are under no obligation to use any of these topics, and students are not required to submit their own project proposals.
STAGE 2 (March 8 to April 5):
  • On March 8, the topic packages will be officially announced and a period of consultation on student proposals for their implementation will begin. 
  • Students who have already proposed their project in the first phase and are accepted will continue with consultations and project development according to the proposed plan. 
  • Other students without a proposed or accepted project will have almost a month to contact the supervisors of the topics they find most attractive and compete for them by consulting on their proposals for their implementation. 
  • If a supervisor finds a project proposal (after any revisions) sufficiently promising and convincing to take on, they will add the author of the proposal to the package of topics and definitively become their supervisor. The decision is entirely up to the supervisor, who has the right to reject any proposal within this month. 
  • Students will have access to a table where the availability of individual topics will be continuously updated.
  • In this case, however, the approved project proposal must follow the parameters of the manual "Information on the Bachelor's Project Proposal."
STAGE 3 (from April 6):
  • Additional competition for unassigned topic packages.
  • Topics to which the supervisor has not assigned anyone by April 5, 2026, will be moved to the next round of selection, where the remaining students will compete for the topics with project proposals, with a maximum of two proposals competing for each vacant topic, from which the supervisor is required to select one as definitive. 
  • Unsuccessful applicants must prepare a new proposal for another proposed topic. The goal is for every student to leave the competition with an assigned topic.
However, approval of the project and assignment of a supervisor does not fulfill the course requirements, and the student is required to significantly develop the project in consultation with the assigned supervisor during the remainder of the course, ideally in accordance with the proposed time and work plan.

Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Following the schedule, accepting the project topic, then continuing with the implementation of the approved project under the supervision of a tutor, and finally conducting an interview on the new version of the original project proposal.
