Course objectives
Learning outcomes.
At the end of this course (in the case of successful finishing) students should be able to:
list and characterize the main groups of "lower plants" as well as "higher plants" (organisms historically classified among the plants);
explain endosymbiotic origin of the semiautonomous organelles, survey of the divisions of the algae, fungi and "fungi-like" organisms to the level of classes and orders;
survey particular divisions from Bryophyta to Magnoliophyta (Angiospermae), the most important orders and families of the angiosperms;
explain basics of morphology, classification of the vascular plants, basic mechanisms of the plant evolution;
discuss diversity of taxa with special remarks to the flora of Central Europe.
