The course discusses the basic insight view to the question of European Integration. It is aimed at the political development of the EU, its institutions, policy and the enlargement process. The main objectives of the course are: to understand the basic turning-points of the EU development including the actual situation, to orientate in the institutional structure of the EU, to gain knowledge about the functioning of the fundamental EU policies and to understand the process of the EU enlargement.

The subject is divided into several blocks:
I. 1.-3. History of the European Integration, overview of the basic treaty frameworks (Markéta Pitrová);
II. 4.-6. Institutions of EU, their functioning, decision making process (Petr Kaniok, Markéta Pitrová);
III. 7.-9. Common policies, chosen coordination policies, financing of EU (Zdeněk Sychra);
IV. 10.-11. EU enlargement, strategies and approaches (Zdeněk Sychra).
