Syllabus
  • Basic principles of molecular diagnostics (survey of methods). Analysis of microbial genomic DNA, DNA fingerprinting, use of PFGE. Analysis of genes coding for rRNA, ribotyping, rDNA typing. Analysis of polymorfis in spacer regions, analysis of intergenic repetitive sequences, AP-PCR. Analysis of genes (application of DGGE, SSCP, RFLP, CFLP and AFLP). Immunological methods, MLEE. Application in molecular systematics, construction of phylogenetical trees, analysis of nucleic acids similarity. Molecular diagnostics of bacterial pathogens (Mycobacterium, Borrelia, Mycoplasma, Legionella, E. coli, Helicobacter, enterokoky, stafylokoky aj.) Bacterial pathogenesis, virulence factors and their detection, mechanisms of bacterial resistence to antibiotics and gene detection. Molecular diagnostics of viruses. Molecular diagnostics of fungal and protozoal pathogens.
