- Abstract
- The basic objective of the course is to acquire knowledge of assembling efficient and functionally reliable structures of digital systems.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- understand the principles of operation of the basic building blocks of digital systems,
- to apply basic building elements of digital systems,
- to verify the function of basic modules of digital systems. - Key topics
- Individual lectures precede and thematically follow the lectures of the course PB171.
- 1. Introduction to the subject, structure of a simple digital system, typical instruction repertoire,
- 2. Organization of interrupts in a simple processor, DMA,
- 3. Auxiliary circuits,
- 4. Principles of construction and structure of memories and addressing methods,
- 5. Buffer memories – CACHE memories, individual project assignments,
- 6. Principles of operation of analog/number and number/analog converters,
- 7. Parallel and serial buses, external buses, and principles of their operation,
- 8. Principles of integration of input/output devices into digital systems,
- 9. Controllers,
- 10. Advanced processor structures,
- 11. Acceleration of arithmetic operations,
- 12. Consultation on the final seminar,
- 13. Final seminar.
