Course objectives
At the end of the course student will be oriented in drug classes according to their main therapeutic indications, in pharmacological profiles of therapeutic and adverse effects of particular drugs with an attention paid to common drug-drug interactions. The student will be able to judge pharmacoeconomic analyses for pharmacotherapy used in practice.

  • Lectures - Autumn semester 2023
  • 1. Basics of pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular diseases. Pharmacotherapy of peptic ulcer disease. Antiemetics. Mechanisms of action, side effects.
  • 2. Cytostatics. Principles of targeted treatment in oncology, monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, use in the therapy of selected diseases.
  • 3. Pharmacotherapy of peptic ulcer disease. Antiemetics. Mechanisms of action, side effects.
  • 4. Introduction to psychopharmacology. Antipsychotics - mechanisms of action, side effects.

Teaching methods
In the fall semester of 2022, teaching is governed by faculty traffic lights. Lectures led by a renowned teacher will be held in person, synchronously with the syllabus. At the same time, a lecture with an audio track will be recorded. At the end of the lecture, space will be given for additional questions from students. MS TEAMS platform (event. another platform) will be used.
Assessment methods
The final exam is guided by the oral examination (three randomly selected questions corresponding with Syllabus (general pharmacological principles, drug classes, question of detailed knowledge).
