- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Define organs of senses, endocrine glands, and organs of peripheral and central nervous systems
2. Identify particular anatomical features of the eye, ear, central and peripheral nervous systems (i.e. brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves) and endocrine system including their blood supply
3. Characterize function of organs of senses, endocrine glands, peripheral and central nervous systems
4. Discuss the distribution and function of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
5. Relate studied organs with respect to adjacent structures - Syllabus
- 1. Basic anatomy of the nervous system. Anatomy of the spinal cord.
- 2. Anatomy of the brainstem, attachments of the cranial nerves.
- 3. Anatomy of the cerebellum. Anatomy of the diencephalon.
- 4. Anatomy of the telencephalon, basal ganglia.
- 5. Cranial nerves III., IV., VI., VII. Skull base.
- 6. Cranial nerve V. Pterygopalatine and infratemporal fossa.
- 7. Cranial nerves IX., X., XI., XII. . Regions of the neck.
- 8. Cervical plexus. Autonomic nervous system. Regions of the abdomen, projection of organs, inguinal canal.
- 9. Visual system. Orbital region.
- 10. Auditory system. Temporal region, scalp.
- 11. Meninges, ventricles, and blood supply of the CNS. Anatomical baseline for imaging of the brain.
