Abstract
The main aims of the course involve:
understanding of main pharmacological mechanisms of drug actions leading to therapeutic, adverse and toxic effects of drugs and eventually their combinations;
knowledge of pharmacological profiles of representative drugs from groups of drugs selected in the curriculum
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will able:
- to understand main pharmacological mechanisms of drug actions leading to therapeutic, adverse and toxic effects of drugs and eventually their combinations;
- to recognize main drug classes and pharmacological profiles of representative drugs from groups of drugs selected in the curriculum.

1.LECTURE: Basic pharmacological terminology. Drug classification. Mechanisms of drug effects. Basics of pharmacokinetics. 2.LECTURE: Factors influencing drug effects. Adverse drug effects. Drug interaction. Development of new drugs, drug life-cycle. 3.LECTURE: Pharmacology of vegetative nervous system. Adrenergic and cholinergic receptors and their agonists and antagonists. 4.LECTURE: Anesthetics. Myorelaxants.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
In lectures, the topics stated in the syllabus are introduced to the students by the pharmacology teacher in the form of a presentation.

Studenti musí během studia prokázat aktivní znalost farmakologie. Závěrečné kolokvium probíha formou "multivýběrového" písemného testu z probíraných témat, kdy má student možnost zvolit jednu správnou odpověď z nabízených variant. Test obsahuje 20 otázek hodnocených 20 body, vždy 1 správná odpověď. Pro úspěšné složení kolokvia je nutné získat alespoň 60% z maximálního možného počtu bodů (12 bodů/20 otázek). Při opakování předmětu je nutné absolvovat výuku v plném předepsaném rozsahu. Témata, ze kterých budou tvořeny otázky závěrečného písemného multi-výběrového testu, odpovídají probraným tématům dle sylabu přednášek a cvičení. Znalost těchto témat bude požadována v rozsahu povinné literatury (Farmakologie pro studenty zdravotnických oborů) a studijních materiálů poskytnutých učitelem. Studenti si doplní tyto zdroje o další poznámky během výkladu učitele.

Při opakování předmětu je nutné absolvovat výuku v plném předepsaném rozsahu.
