Course objectives
Students after end of the course will be able to use the information filled with ecology in its scientific sense, basic knowledge about ecosystems and global environmental problems associated closely with the human impact on nature and the consequences resulting therefrom. Specific attention is paid to the topic of food production and organic farming.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- have basic knowledge about ecosystems,
- know the global environmental issues related to the impact of humans on nature and the consequences thereof.
- be oriented to the issues of food production and organic farming.
Syllabus
  • Definitions. The natural (base science of ecosystems): biomes, agro-ecosystems, urban ecosystems, oceans, zoning, energy-material flows and cycles, biodiversity, etc. Social section (Introduction to Environmental Sciences) global issues (population, overpopulation, the greenhouse effect, ozone depletion, pollution problem, tourism). Possibilities food production on a global scale. Organic farming as an example of applied ecology - principles of production, the current debate about the quality of production, social and environmental aspects of organic farming

Preparation of a thesis focused on the issues of ecology in relation to nutrition and presentation. Written examination
