Course objectives
The aim of the tuition is acquisition of the ability to read with comprehension, to translate, and to reproduce easier professional medical texts in the English language, to make oneself understood in English in both professional and routine communication situations with clients in the optometrist’s office. The set of knowledge and skills required in the examination in English is, similar to tuition, determined exclusively by the needs of the discipline studied. General characteristics of the course: For a language finished by an examination the ability of active professional communication in both oral and written form is required; the development of the basic language skills (training of pronunciation, spelling, written communication, professionally relevant grammatical phenomena, acquisition of a technical lexical minimum ranging between 1,200 and 1,500 lexical units, and its functional application) is presupposed.
