- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of people with severe disabilities and concomitant disabilities multiple disabilities in terms of education, intervention and counselling.
- Learning outcomes
- The student is oriented in the terminology and characteristics of people with combined disabilities, can apply counseling theories in practice.
- Syllabus
- 1. Terminological background: definition of the term severe disability, multiple diability, etiological factors.
- 2. Characteristics of people with severe disabilities and multiple disability.
- 3. Asssessment of a child in the pre-school age. School maturity.
- 4. Communication of persons with severe disabilities (symptomatic speech disorders in children with cerebral palsy, general characteristics, tasks of communication, support of communication, alternative and augmentative communication).
- 5. Support of a child with severe disabilities.
- 6. Counselling for families with a child with severe disabilities (different areas, legislation, objectives, network, principles of advisory intervention).
- 7. Autism - characteristics, changes in terminology, specific difficulties and support
- 8. Child with severe visual impairment.
- 9. Case studies, analysis of selected case studies.
