Abstract
The aim of the course is for the student to acquire basic knowledge in the field of education in an inclusive school environment, taking into account the diagnosis of the educational needs of individual pupils. Another aim is to acquaint the student with the system and conditions of education of pupils with special educational needs (SEN), support measures and counselling services in accordance with current legislation. At the same time, the student will learn about the strategies of education of pupils with special educational needs.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
– identify individual needs of students and evaluate the effectiveness of their education;
– define a pupil with special educational needs;
– select effective working methods and appropriate learning styles for a pupil with special educational needs individual pupils;
– know the basic methods and forms of working with a heterogeneous group (adaptation of ways of conveying the curriculum, teaching materials, organizational forms of work, classroom layout, assessment, etc.);
– be able to modify teaching materials and activities to meet the needs of the pupils.

  • 1. Inclusive education, the classroom collective in an inclusive school and the role of the teacher in a multidisciplinary team.
  • 2. Diagnostics in the school environment, diagnostic procedure and diagnostic methods.
  • 3. Conditions for the education of pupils with special educational needs, legislation and curriculum documents.
  • 4. Organisational and personnel support for the education of pupils in a heterogeneous classroom. Implementation of support measures.
  • 5. Methods and forms of teacher's work in an inclusive classroom, possibilities and functions of evaluation.
  • 6. Support measures for pupils with educational support needs due to difficulties caused by health, cultural background or other living conditions of the child/pupil.
Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Group discussions, cooperative learning, experiential activities, independent reading of assigned texts, creation of mind maps, presentation of examples of good practice.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Final written test, continuous reflection of students' work during the course. The conditions and assessment will be specified by the teachers in IS.
