Abstract
The aim of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive overview of topics in the field of general didactics (teaching theory). The course introduces students to general rules that apply in teaching within topics such as curriculum content, methods and forms of teaching, teaching evaluation, teaching resources, teaching actors, preparation for teaching, etc.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will be able to apply partial theoretical knowledge from general didactics in the practical life of a secondary school teacher. At the end of the course, the student is familiar with key didactic concepts; is able to implement didactic principles and methods of modern didactics into the educational environment of his/her future workplace; is able to formulate teaching objectives as tools for organizing his/her own teaching; is able to distinguish individual forms and methods of teaching (including some elements of reform or alternative didactics) and choose the appropriate form or method according to the given situation; is able to apply methods of objective assessment of pupils; is able to divide didactic resources into categories; is able to create high-quality preparation for teaching.
Key topics

1. Current concept of the field of general didactics; key didactic concepts.

2. Educational and teaching objectives; cognitive, affective, psychomotor objectives; requirements for teaching objectives.

7. Teaching in reform schools.

8. Didactic principles; various concepts of didactic principles; methods of implementing didactic principles in the educational process.

9. Didactic resources in the educational process: teaching aids and technology.

10. Teacher preparation for teaching; types of preparation, methods of processing, structure, content, implementation; motivation in teaching as part of preparation and as an important element in the structure of teaching. Didactic analysis of the curriculum.

11. Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Teaching takes place in the form of lectures and seminars. Lectures are focused on interpreting concepts and introducing the theory of general didactics. Lectures are enriched with examples (presentations, photographs, audio, video, real aids); discussions are also part of the teaching. Seminars: students prepare for teaching, carry out "teaching outputs" themselves, while applying various forms of teaching (possibly pedagogical diagnostics or self-evaluation). As part of home preparation, they prepare a seminar paper on a given theoretical topic. The following are applied in the seminars: activation teaching methods, methods of practical activities, demonstration teaching methods, etc. It is the obligation of students of the full-time form of teaching to attend all seminars (excuses - see the MU Study and Examination Regulations).
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Methods used to verify whether the planned outcomes have been achieved: written test on the exam date, presentation (teacher output) during the semester, preparation of a theoretical seminar paper during the semester. The written part of the exam takes the form of a knowledge test. The test usually has 20 to 30 items (open and closed). A student who scores less than 75% of the points in the evaluation is considered unsuccessful.
