- Anotace
This course aims to help understand pharmacological terms and legislation relating to medicines; the fundamentals of prescribing medicinal products; and the differences among individual dosage forms, methods of administration, and their impact on the effects of medicines, and to gain an overview of basic pharmacokinetic processes and parameters, possible mechanisms of drug action, types of adverse effects and factors that influence the effect of drugs.
In the introduction to Special Pharmacology, students will become familiar with the fundamentals of pharmacology, profiles of selected drug groups, including their specific indications, mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetic properties, and methods of administration. drugs, possible adverse effects, drug interactions and contraindications.- Výstupy z učení
- After completing the course, students will understand the legislation governing the use of medicines, distinguish between different dosage forms and methods of administration, understand pharmacokinetic processes and be able to calculate selected pharmacokinetic parameters, be familiar with the pharmacodynamics of drugs and types of adverse effects, and be able to describe factors influencing the effect of drugs, including clinically significant examples. The student has an overview of selected drug groups used in clinical practice and is familiar with their basic pharmacological profiles. The student can prescribe Ready-made medicinal products using available resources.

- Topic 1: INFORMATION ON DRUGS
- Organisation of practical courses and lectures, our system of evaluation. Repetition of basic pharmacologic terminology. Sub-branches of pharmacology. Sources of information concerning drugs and recommended textbooks. Work with relevant databases (Brevíř, SÚKL, EMA, AISLP), and ATC classification.
- Topic 2: ROUTES OF DRUG ADMINISTRATION, DRUG DOSAGE FORMS
- Brief characteristics of the individual drug dosage forms. Clinical significance of the way of drug administration. Overview of the drug dosage forms.
- Topic 3: PRESCRIPTION OF MEDICINAL PRODUCTS
- General rules of drug prescription. Prescription of the ready-made preparations.
- Topic 4: PHARMACOKINETICS I
- Pharmacokinetic processes, parameters and calculations.
- Topic 5: PHARMACOKINETICS II
- Pharmacokinetic case reports, simulation of plasma concentrations course, dosage optimization and use of software tools, factors affecting course and value of drug´s plasma concentrations.

- Classification and characteristics of adverse drug effects. Pharmacovigilance in clinical practice, sources of information on drug safety.
- Topic 9: PHARMACOLOGY OF SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM
- Receptors of the sympathetic nervous system (alpha, beta) and their subtypes and organ distribution. Classification and basic pharmacological characteristics of drugs influencing the sympathetic nervous system (pharmacodynamics - both direct and indirect mechanisms of drug action, systems of second messengers).

Participation in pharmacology seminars requires students to prepare for class by studying the study materials provided in advance in the MUNI IS. The exercises themselves further deepen theoretical knowledge by connecting individual topics, applying them to specific examples from clinical practice, and consolidating long-term knowledge through active learning.
The teacher encourages active discussion, guides students through the solution of individual cases with targeted questions, and responds to the needs of the seminar group. At the same time, they adhere to the preset schedule for each teaching unit to maintain uniform learning outcomes.- Způsob ověření výstupů z učení a požadavky na ukončení
Participation in seminars is mandatory. Students are allowed two unexcused absences. To obtain credit, students must successfully pass the following tests:
Prescription test - students are tasked with prescribing 2 Ready-made products using a drug database; the assignment includes indications and other information about the patient necessary for the correct selection of the active substance and duration of therapy (drug form/route of administration, quantity of the product)
3x Multiple-choice test - each test contains 15 questions, the number of correct answers is specified in the assignment, the pass mark is 6 points and a total of 20 points from 3 tests. It is possible to retake one test, no more than once per semester.
To obtain credit, students must meet the attendance requirement and pass all tests with a minimum total of 20 points.- Náhradní absolvování
- For an internship, students can participate in online exercises. Tests are taken in person after returning from the internship. This option must be discussed with the course contact person before the start of the semester.
