- Cíle předmětu
- The aim of this Summer School is to deepen knowledge in pharmacology and pharmacotherapy, train, and improve prescribing skills. The course focuses on applying principles of drug dose adjustment in organ insufficiency, pharmacology of selected drug groups, pharmacokinetics, and safe pharmacotherapy. Topics include clinical pharmacology of selected groups of drugs, drug interactions, critical appraisal of drug information, personalized therapy, precision medicine, ATMPs, and rare diseases. Teaching is based on team-based learning (TBL) with virtual patients, supported by pre-class reading and video lectures. Innovative methods foster collaboration among students and promote international exchange and comparison of national approaches to prescribing. Meeting classmates from different countries, stimulating international collaboration, and comparing the national specific approches to prescribing are another aim of this course.
- Výstupy z učení
- The student is able to: • Safely and effectively use drugs from selected classes • recognize and better understand the key issues in reasonable prescribing • use gained knowledge in the management of an individual patient, adjust drug dosing based on individual physiological functions • write/design a medication review/adverse effect evaluation, suggest an optimal management • define precision medicine, ATMPs, and rare diseases and illustrate practical application • collaborate in virtual multinational teams with other students, teachers, researchers.

- Výukové metody
- Flipped classroom: Team-based learning (TBL) lessons: - 1st part is the individual preclass reading as preparetion for the TBL lesson; - 2nd part is an individual-, team-, and group-based rapid assessment tests in the beginning of the TBL lesson; - 3rd part is the virtual patient case with several nodes (open or closed question to discuss, training prescribing skills); - 4th part is discussion on the gained knowledge and skills application into clinical practice. Workshop, collaborative (online) international learning lessons represent further methods used.
- Metody hodnocení
- 1. Attendance at all lessons is compulsory. 2. Each student has to elaborate on a medication review of a patient or a comprehensive assessment of an adverse effect in a patient (pptx or docx format). This case report will be base for the collaborative online meeting where the answers and recommendations will be discussed. Certificates of attendance will be released once both conditions are met.
