The thesis will focus on pre-editing in machine translation workflows, with particular attention to its role, implementation, and perception in professional translation practice. The theoretical section will examine existing research on pre-editing, its relationship to controlled language and post-editing, and propose a literature-based typology of pre-editing strategies. The empirical section will then investigate how these strategies are applied in professional practice through an empirical survey conducted among translation companies, exploring current usage, perceived benefits, and the potential future role of pre-editing in the context of neural machine translation.
