Essential knowledge of anathomy, physiology, histopathology, biochemistry focused on the skin, ability to work with patient, to work with medical files, good knowledge of differential diagnosis and algorithm in therapy.

Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to teach students practical aspects of examination approaches, diagnostics and appropriate treatment choices of dermatoses and venereal diseases. The training is focused on understanding and acquirement of basic principles of skin functions, pathophysiology of the most important skin diseases, morphology as a basic examination paradigm and of the most important aspects of the skin allergology, phototherapy and topical treatment in dermatology.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to investigate patient using basic diagnostic tests in dermatovenereology, to choice appropriate topical therapy, further make a differential diagnosis in principal groups of skin and venereal diseases.
Syllabus
  • Lectures are focused on structure and functions of the skin, morphology of skin lesions, diagnostic procedures, topical and systemic treatment. Special topics include bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic skin diseases, drug eruptions, eczemas, autoimmune diseases, chronic wounds, skin tumours and sexually transmitted diseases. Practical part involves examination of the patient, dermatosurgery, phototherapy, dermoscopy.

Teaching methods
Course is organized as two week intership at dermatovenerological department. Course is composed of collective seminars to the given topics and practical bed-side demonstrations in small groups. Practical training in FNUSA and Pediatric Hospital
Assessment methods
The course-unit credit is conditioned by full (100%) attendance in the lessons, case report and ropot test.
