fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
Course objectives
The course aims to understand (i) the basic principles of intermediary metabolism and its regulation in various states of the organism at all levels, (ii) the characteristic features of metabolism of individual organs and tissues, (iii) the principles of maintaining homeostasis of the organism, including acid-base balance.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- explain the biochemical nature of nutrient digestion processes, their resorption, and connections with pathological processes;
- characterize the interrelationships between nutrient metabolism under different states of the organism, including pathological ones;
- characterize the metabolic processes of the main organs and tissues and the main disorders;
- discuss the principles of maintaining homeostasis and acid-base balance in the organism;
- explain the principles of metabolic regulation at all levels.
