Course objectives
The course deals with the integration of biochemical processes in the human body. The aim is to understand biochemical processes characteristic of individual tissues and organs and the principles of their regulation, as well as to understand the issue of the influence of nutrition on changes in metabolism in certain diseases/disorders.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- explain the biochemical nature of nutrient digestion processes, their resorption, and connections with pathological processes;
- characterize the interrelationships between nutrient metabolism under different states of the organism, including pathological ones;
- characterize the metabolic processes of the main organs and tissues and the main disorders;
- discuss the principles of maintaining homeostasis and acid-base balance in the organism;
- explain the principles of metabolic regulation at all levels.
