Abstract
At the end of the course student should be able to prescribe representatives of individual drug classes in the form of individually prepared pharmaceutical preparation and bulk drugs. The student should be familiar with pharmacological profiles of therapeutic and adverse effects of particular drugs with an attention paid to common drug-drug interactions.

  • 1/ANALGESICS.
  • Opioid analgesics. Pharmacotherapy of pain. Opioid addiction therapy. Prescription and practical use of analgesic preparations.
  • 2/NON-STEROIDAL ANTIINFLAMMATORY DRUGS, DRUGS USED IN GOUT, ANTIPYRETICS.
  • Mechanisms of action and classification of anti-inflammatory and anti- rheumatic drugs (NSAIDs and the 2nd-line agents). Drugs used in therapy of gout.
  • Getting ready for the next lesson: Central neurotransmitters and sites of drug effects in CNS. Basic psychical functions.

  • 3/PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS – INTRODUCTION. ANXIOLYTICS, HYPNOSEDATIVES.
  • Classification and terminology of psychotropics. Review of their mechanisms of action. Pharmacology of anxiolytics and hypnosedatives. Mechanism of action of benzodiazepines. Prescription of hypnosedatives and psychostimulants.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Drug classes specifics from the Syllabus are read firstly by the teacher and presented in video-programmes if available followed by discussion and training of drug prescription with the use of drug compendia and the computer database of the preparations registered in the Czech Republic (AISLP). Each student is asked to get ready as a homework to report on a specific pharmacological topic.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
The participation in practicals is obligatory and registered. To get credits a student has to pass 4 written tests: a) 2 on special drug presriptions (assessed individually by the teacher), b) 2 multiple-choice tests on knowledge of topics taught (more than half correctly answered questions required).

Výuka probíhá na Farmakologickém ústavu LF MU, UKB, Kamenice 5, pavilon A19.
Úřední hodiny sekretariátu denně 13.00 - 14.00 hod, tel.: 54949 3070. DOCHÁZKA
- účast studentů na cvičeních je povinná, bez 100% docházky není možné udělit zápočet
- důvodem k omluvení je nemoc popřípadě jiný závažný důvod doložený omluvenkou a zapsaný do IS studijním oddělením
- důvodem k omluvení NENÍ zkouška ani zápočet z jiného předmětu
- chybějící cvičení je možné ve výjimečných případech nahradit po předchozí domluvě s vyučujícím v jiné seminární skupině
- případnou absenci bude student řešit s příslušným vyučujícím (v případě řádné omluvy) nebo s Dr. Zendulkou (v ostatních případech)

PŘÍPRAVA NA NÁSLEDUJÍCÍ CVIČENÍ
- studentům je doporučeno průběžně se připravovat na cvičení na základě informací uvedených v sylabu
- připravenost studentů na cvičení bude ověřována před a během cvičení vyučujícím

- obsah, přednes (bez čtení), reakce na následné otázky od studentů a vyučujícího
- ppt prezentace nebudou přijímány

Information for the students studying in English:

ATTENDANCE
- - attendance on the practical courses is obligatory, without 100% attendance will credits not be given
- the absence will be excused because of illness or because of other serious reasons declared to Office of International Studies and documented in IS
- absence WILL NOT BE EXCUSED due to exam or test from other courses
- missing lesson can be exceptionally substituted with other study group after teacher agreement
- expected absence should be addressed to Dr. Zendulka

GETTING READY FRO THE NEXT LESSON:
- students are advised to prepare for the practical courses with regard to information in the syllabus
- students who are not sufficiently prepared will not be admitted in participating in the lesson

CO-TALKS:
- should be performed as a speech without reading the full content from prepared materials
- powerpoint presentations will not be accepted
- references should be stated
- topics of single co-talks and links to selected materila can be found in IS
