Approach to the unresponsive patient

Shout for help

  • we shout clearly and loudly for help
  • by this action, we let people around us know that something has happened
  • there is always a chance to come across someone who is trained in providing first aid
  • a helpful bystander can call emergency medical services, go to wait for the emergency team and help them to find the patient
  • when you require help from a group of bystanders, it is always better to choose a particular person and address him/her your demand rather than asking the whole group to help you
  • when you ask someone for help, e.g. calling EMS, always make sure whether he completed it
