    ABOUT CENTER FOR MEDIEVAL VISUAL CULTURES AND RESEARCH COMMUNICATION
    Center for Medieval Visual Cultures and Research Communication (RE:CENT) seeks new ways of studying the art and architecture of the pre-modern world, the modern reception of these cultures and their later reinterpretation.

    The main activities of the Center are dedicated to academic research and scholar training as well as to engagement with non-academic audiences. The aim of the Center is to analyze the artistic, religious, and intellectual cultures of pre-modern civilizations. RE:CENT emphasizes a cross-cultural approach, which it considers essential for understanding visual culture.
    RE:CENT is part of the Department of Art History at Masaryk University. It offers classes and lectures by local as well as invited specialist on Medieval Art and Historiography for BA, MA and PhD students and organizes field trips where students can directly encounter works of art. The Center organizes lectures by local and foreign experts on medieval art and historiography. RE:CENT also organizes conferences and round tables, proposes one-month fellowships for scholars and welcomes students and interns in the frame of the Erasmus program. Through public lectures and short documentaries, RE:CENT aims to enter in contact with a broader audience.
    Currently, members of RE:CENT work on several project, among them Demarginalizing Medieval Georgia: History of Art History between Colonial Perspective and Nationalist Appropriation (1921–1991) supported by the European Union (MSCA Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) or Ready for Future: Understanding the Long-Term Resilience of Human Cultures supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
